Klayhouse Ceramics class - Intermediate Hand-Building

Returning workshop attendees only!! Join Kendall from Klay House Ceramics for a hand-building workshop on May 16, 2023 from 6pm-9pm. Hosted by Fennel House Studio located in Beverly, MA.  Doors open 15 minutes before the workshop and close 10 minutes after we begin.

In this workshop you will build on skills that you have already learned in past workshops to make a coil pot serving bowl. You will be given pre-made coils to begin and then build them together to create the form. Let your creativity run wild to create whatever kind of design using the coils that you can dream up and I will be there to guide you along the way. 

We recommend you bring your own sketches or print outs of your favorite motifs, patterns and images to start your process!

Your pot will be ready for pickup 4-5 weeks after the workshop. Tuition includes clay, tools, glaze, and kiln firing. Wine spritzers and charcuterie boards are available as add ons from With Flour. Gentle words of encouragement and fun tunes will be provided.

Klayhouse Ceramics Class

Join Kendall from Klay House Ceramics for a surface design workshop on March 26, 2023 from 6:30 pm-8:30 pm. Hosted by Fennel House Studio located in Beverly, MA.  Doors open 15 minutes before the workshop and close 10 minutes after we begin.

In this workshop you will learn the basics of carving and glazing a leather hard ceramic tray hand-built by Kendall. You will be given ceramic carving tools and underglaze to paint your own tumbler, let your creativity run wild to create whatever kind of surface design you can dream up and I will be there to guide you along the way. 

We recommend you bring your own sketches or print outs of your favorite motifs, patterns and images to start your process!

Your pot will be ready for pickup 3-4 weeks after the workshop. Tuition includes clay, tools, glaze, and kiln firing. Wine spritzers and charcuterie boards are available as add ons from With Flour. Gentle words of encouragement and fun tunes will be provided.

We are unable to accommodate private showings so this is a great time for anyone who is interested in seeing the studio. Take this opportunity to have all of your questions answered.

Join Kendall from Klay House Ceramics for a hand-building workshop on February 9, 2023 from 6:30 pm-8:30 pm. Hosted by Fennel House Studio .  Doors open 15 minutes before the workshop and close 10 minutes after we begin.

In this workshop you will learn the basics of hand building using pinch pot, slab, and in-lay techniques in an open studio setting. Once we cover the building techniques let your creativity run wild to create a pot of your choice and I will be there to guide you along the way. A mug, a plate, a bowl, a wind chime? You got it!

In addition to building techniques, surface design such as stamping and creating attachments will be taught and used as needed for your individual design. We recommend you bring your own sketches or print outs of your favorite motifs, foraged plants from your yard, patterns and images to start your process!

Your pot will be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after the workshop. Tuition includes clay, tools, glaze, any finishings needed and kiln firing. Red Wine and Flourless Chocolate Cake is available as an add on from With Flour. Gentle words of encouragement and fun tunes will be provided.

Klayhouse Holiday Pottery Class

Join Kendall from Klayhouse Ceramics for a hand-building workshop on November 11, 2022 from 6:30pm-9pm. Hosted by Fennel House Studio. Doors open 15 minutes before the workshop and close 5 minutes after we begin.

In this workshop you will learn the basics of hand building using clay slabs to create a winter holiday house. Think gingerbread house, but with clay! In addition to building techniques, surface design such as stamping, creating attachments and in-lay will be taught and used to add designs onto your house. We recommend you bring your own sketches or print outs of your favorite motifs, foraged plants from your yard, patterns and images to start your process!

You'll be making one winter holiday house out of white clay with a base for it to sit on. Included in the workshop tuition you will also receive a tea light candle hand poured by Katie from Soy Much Brighter in Beverly, MA in one of her holiday scents. 

Your houses will be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after the workshop. These WILL NOT be ready by Christmas, please keep this in mind. Tuition includes clay, tools, glaze, a tea light candle and kiln firing. Mulled wine & hot chocolate as well as a slice of pie from With Flour in Her Hair  are available as add ons. Gentle words of encouragement and fun tunes will be provided.

Join Kendall from Klayhouse Ceramics for a hand-building workshop on October 20, 2022 from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Hosted by Fennel House Studio. Doors open 15 minutes before the workshop and close 5 minutes after we begin.

In this workshop you will learn the basics of hand building, including slab and coil techniques to create a planter for your favorite plant baby. In addition to building techniques, surface design such as sgraffito, stamping, and in-lay will be taught and used to add design onto your pieces. We recommend you bring your own sketches or print outs of your favorite motifs, foraged plants from your yard, patterns and images to start your process!

You'll be making one medium sized planter. You will be able to choose if you want to create a table top planter or a hanging planter. I will demonstrate a watercolor technique to paint your pot or you can choose one of our house glazes for your final touches.

Your pots will be ready for pickup 15-20 days after the workshop. Materials including clay, tools, glaze, and firing is included in the workshop tuition. Beer or hard cider & personal sized pizza from With Flour in Her Hair  are available as add ons. Gentle words of encouragement and fun tunes will be provided.

We will be opening up the studio for hour long sessions to any photographer who is interested in gaining access to Studio lights.

Each hour slot is $50. you will have access to three Profoto lights and all of our backdrops. All students will receive a student discount.

Come play around, learn something new and experience studio lighting!
